The extravagant journey of my life: "There is no such thing as a coincidence"

In his book Tales of Power, Carlos Castaneda quotes Don Juan, the Yaqui who trained him in shamanism, saying: "You say you need help. Help for what? You have everything needed for the extravagant journey that is your life. I have tried to teach you that the real experience is to be a man, and that what counts is being alive; life is the little detour that we are taking now. Life in itself is sufficient, self-explanatory and complete."

This is how I feel, in the extravagant journey of life. Since you've tumbled onto my site, I'll try to describe for you in a few paragraphs how this journey's been for me until now.

I was born in Barcelona. I've lived in Paris, Bruges, Brussels, Oxford and London. But my home has never been in any of these places. It's in the sea horizon, always in front of me, inspiring me, challenging me.

After several years of studies in Law and Political Science that brought me to all those cities, I've taught international negotiations for more than a decade, but a few years ago something started to stir up inside me. In 2007 I started to run and workout regularly. This open a small door of perception into my body and my emotions. My diet changed towards vegetarianism, I became vegetarian in 2010. In 2008 I started to meditate, first in sessions of 10 minutes that increased to 20, then 30 until I did a Vipassana retreat in India in 2013, now I meditate one hour a day. In 2009 I started to practise yoga at home with a video called "Yoga for Energy" with Rodney Yee, until in December 2010 I did my first yoga class with by coincidence David Life, the co-founder of Jivamukti yoga. In 2014 I did my Jivamukti teaching training in upstate New York. In 2012 I went to Sri Lanka to practise with Kathy Cooper for the first time Ashtanga yoga. Today, after learning from other wonderful teachers in a few cities in Europe, India, Thailand and Bali, I practise Ashtanga daily, right after my morning meditation. From November to January 2016 I'm planned to be in Mysore at the KPJAYI.

At the beginning of his class, David Life started his dharma talk with the sentence: "There is no such thing as a coincidence". For me, 2010 had been a year of "coincidences", "a year of synchronicity". His talk was its culmination. It was the turning point of my journey towards further awareness. Now I'm still only at the beginning.
